Dordrecht (former) visual artists Rob Vis and Erik Sep will take you on a vicious visual adventure.
Driven by the urge to question the meaning contemporary art has in society, the two have decided to seek out the public directly by showing their latest works during the summer in Zierikzee.
Rob Vis' work is painted in a cartoonish visual language that refers to 20th-century movements such as Pop Art, Street Art and Outsider art. The perversion of everyday motifs and events are characteristic themes in his paintings. In the ongoing drawing diary “Tekenkots”, Vis spits back what media culture spews out on us by placing sharp observations from the here and now in an ominous universe. With a biting sarcasm, Vis fills his working hours.
Erik Sep has achieved national acclaim with his multi-year project “Neurotopia”. After a long period of exhibiting with this project, Sep has challenged himself to work from a new angle. In an era of overconsumption and subsequent global tensions, he has found a breeding ground to persiflate, comment on and transform existence into a dystopian reality. The seemingly mealy-mouthed installation “Bunkers & Billboards” cannot be overlooked at a glance and invites you to peruse.
The exhibition can be seen from Thursday 17 July to Saturday 9 August.
On Saturday 19 July, both artists will be present at the opening of their expo between 16:00 and 19:00 hrs.
Thank You See You.
